JIMMY WHITE is obviously confident about his chances of beating Rainham snooker star Gerard Greene in the first round of the European Open this afternoon.
The Whirlwind was yesterday given a £200 charity bet by World Snooker’s official betting partner for the European Open, Ladbrookes - and stuck the lot on himself to beat Greene at odds of 4-6.
If he wins, London's Royal Marsden Hospital, the UK's leading comprehensive cancer centre, will receive a cheque for around £330.
But after his best season ever, Greene will be hoping he beat the man he idolises when they do battle at the Palace Hotel, Torquay. The match is due to start at about 2pm.
