ANYONE still hoping to buy tickets to watch one of the world's top snooker players in Gillingham next Friday will be disappointed - the exhibition is a sell-out.
Tickets have sold quickly for Ronnie O'Sullivan's eagerly-awaited best-of-nine Embassy Snooker Classic game with former world champion Steve Davis at the Black Lion Leisure Centre.
O'Sullivan, who has replaced Jimmy White and Alex Higgins as arguably the most exciting player in the game to watch, comes into the event in a reasonably positive frame of mind after a good year.
Despite only reaching the semi-finals while defending his world title recently, The Rocket is the top ranked player in the world for next season after a series of good performances, including winning the UK Championships.
Six-times world champion Davis comes into the contest as a strong underdog after a disappointing campaign which has seen him miss out on the televised stages of the world championships and fail to force his way into the top 16.
Davis, who was once nicknamed ‘interesting’ by the TV show Spitting Image, has built a reputation as one of the most amusing players in the game, which he will hope to enhance by performing a collection of trick shots later in the evening.
The event also includes a one-frame challenge match between O’Sullivan and WBU bantamweight champion Johnny Armour. For those with tickets, doors open at 6.30pm.
