Lydden Circuit is likely to draw the biggest attendance for a sporting event in east Kent this year when it hosts the opening round of the 2009 European Rallycross Championship.

More than 20,000 motorsport enthusiasts from all over Europe are expected to attend the two-day event over the Easter weekend, which will mark the return of the sport to a circuit known fondly as the “home of rallycross”.

The world’s most popular rallycross championship last visited Lydden in 1996.

Circuit director, Amy Doran, said: “We want to put Lydden back on the motorsport map, and we have spent about £1million over the past year on improvements to the circuit.”

The schedule for the weekend is as follows: Easter Sunday 12.30-6pm; Easter Monday: 9am-6pm. Admission: £15, under-12s go free. For more information call 01304 830557 or log on to www.lyddenhill.co.uk
