KENT boxer Johnny Armour believes he has one more title shot left in him following his victory on points over Jamaican Delroy Spencer at Bethnal Green's York Hall.

From the moment he appeared and was greeted by a huge roar from his fans on Saturday night, it was clear Armour was in no mood to disappoint.

Defeat was not an option for the Chatham fighter and as he strode purposefully to his corner to face Spencer – the final bout of a entertaining bill.

The 37-year-old admitted beforehand that he would reluctantly hang up his gloves and retire if he was beaten in the super bantamweight bout.

But, if there’s one thing the former European, Commonwealth and World bantamweight champion isn’t, it’s a quitter.

And maked no mistake, Armour is still be a handful for any bantamweight and already has an eye on Martin Power’s British title.

Admittedly, Saturday’s opponent, Spencer, hasn’t got the greatest record – only nine wins in 42 fights – but he;s no mug.

The Walsall fighter’s last win came back in January 2002 and Armour was in no mood to remind him what a celebration felt like.

Frenchman Tuncay Kaya beat Armour on points in June last year, in what was Armour’s first contest for almost two years.

Armour said afterwards: "I knew he was a stayer and he was hard to get hold of. But I

felt good and I’m still in there. I felt a little nervous before the fight but got the result I needed."

Armour hopes to get back into the ring next month before hopefully meeting Power.
