Two more ice men put pen to paper

TWO more members of the Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey squad have signed to play for the English National Hockey League (South) champions for another season.

Following on from the contract extensions of Carl Ambler and Gary Dodds, another netminder and forward have put pen to paper.

Ian Rowlands, who played 16 games between the pipes last season, and Peter Carey, who scored 28 goals and 39 assists in 37 games, have agreed new deals to the delight of bench coach Kevin Parrish.

He said: “Rowlands is back for a sixth season with the club after great performances in the play-offs covering for Ambler, who dislocated his shoulder. Both are great keepers and Rowlands will be pushing hard for the number one spot.

“Carey was last season’s top goalscorer, points scorer (67) and forward-of-the-season. His record speaks for itself and we are delighted to have him aboard for another year.”

Ambler has now fully recovered from the shoulder injury he sustained at the end of last season and is travelling to Canada to attend a summer netminder training camp.
