Underwood to present special award

THE Primary Club, the charity which provides sporting and recreational facilities for the blind and partially-sighted, has joined forces with Lamberhurst-based The Cricketer magazine to launch the Golden ball award.

The award will go to the cricket club which can enrol the most members in The Primary Club, the only criterion being a first-ball dismissal in any form of cricket.

Membership costs £20 for which is received one of the two club ties or a ladies' brooch.

The Golden Ball award will be presented by the club's patron, former Kent and England spinner Derek Underwood, at the final of The Cricketer National Village Championship at Lord's on September 1.
