It’s great to be living back in Essex and I’m enjoying my time back at Charlton.
I was here on loan last season but it seemed like I was always playing catch-up fitness-wise and once I had got into full flow, the season ended!
Sorting out my future here allowed me to get a fitness programme right at the start of the summer and helped me return in much better shape. After the rigours of pre-season, it offered me a platform to build on.
Getting to know all the lads here has been a big thing too and getting into the camaraderie and banter is key to our progression.
The more you play with each other the more you know what each other’s going to do and you can link up and get some partnerships on the pitch. You need to be mates on and off the pitch if you’re going to give everything for each other on it. Although the season has started slowly, it’s important we stay together going into this weekend’s game against Leicester.
Of course, the weather intervened last weekend against Doncaster but although conditions underfoot made playing football tricky, our performance in the opening 23 minutes was not good enough.
We showed spirit to get a goal back after the restart and after they had a man sent-off, it remains to be seen what might have happened had the rain relented.
