Kent’s last-ball defeat in the Twenty20 Cup final capped an exciting day of twists and turns which saw massive six-hitting and wily spin bowling.

The drama at the Rose Bowl ended a red letter day for the competition with fans enjoying bright sunshine and explosive cricket. Essex Eagles, Middlesex Crusaders and Durham Dynamos joined the Spitfires in competing for the prestigious cup and the chance to participate in a lucrative game in the Caribbean this autumn.

Rob Key's side beat Essex en route to the final and the Kent captain paid tribute to the format which is set for expansion in the next few years.
