Dave Walker has given himself two years to win the British welterweight title.
The Sidcup boxer is now campaigning at welterweight after European and British Title attempts up at light-middleweight.
Walker will have a six-round bout in the latest stage of his comeback on the Hennessy Sports show in association with GoldenPalace.net at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday, June 27.
After nearly two years out of the ring following his loss to Jamie Moore for the domestic belt in 2005, ‘Kid Dynamite’ has since twice been victorious over six rounds.
“I feel better since I’ve come back and I reckon I’ve got two years left to achieve my dreams,” said Walker.
“I believe I can win titles still, otherwise I wouldn’t be wasting people’s time by carrying on. I’m still hungry for it and still want it just as much.
“In fact I’m probably more determined. I would love a British title fight and winning that would be like winning the world title for me.
“I think I need another two or three more fights before I get a crack at it because I had two years out and need a few more to get me ready.
“It was a shame Kevin McIntyre was recently stripped of the British welterweight title, no boxer should lose a title like that. He’s a good boxer but I think I can handle the likes of him and others.”
Walker has been involved in some of British boxing’s best fights in recent years, including thrillers with Jimmy Vincent and Spencer Fearon before losing to Russian Roman Karmazin for the European light-middleweight title in 2003.
The British Super-Bantamweight Title fight between champion Esham Pickering (Newark) and Welling challenger Matthew Marsh is top of the bill, with Sky Sports televising the action live.
