JACKIE MASON: involved in putting together a team for the new season

THE Invicta Dynamos ice hockey squad have secured their future for another two years after signing a new contract with the owners of the Gillingham Ice Bowl.

Director Jackie Mason and the Dynamos management team have been in negotiations with Starburst Ltd for three months and are delighted to have agreed the deal.

And there’s more good news for the club as Starburst are making a substantial investment into the playing area, which will include new ice and NHL-style boards and plexi-glass to improve the look and safety of the rink.

Mrs Mason said: “I am pleased that the contract has been signed. It now gives us time to put together a team for the new season and continue with the development programme for the juniors.

“We have an excellent relationship with the Ice Bowl and knew some time ago about the new developments. The boards are coming from another rink and we’re delighted with the new developments. It’s a great boost for all of our teams.”

The Dynamos had another successful campaign as they won the ENHL Southern League title but lost in the play-off final to Sheffield Scimitars.

But preparations are already underway for the new campaign. Kevin Parrish is replacing Phil Chard as bench coach but Chard is remaining as a director and will strap on his skates one last time.

He will play in a charity game for breast cancer and Meningitis Research Foundation at the Ice Bowl on August 22.
