Weather wipes out football matches

Two high-profile games were called off on Friday as the week's snowfall took its toll on the weekend's football programme.

Charlton's Championship clash at home to Cardiff was postponed after a Friday morning pitch inspection.

That news followed confirmation from Stonebridge Road that Ebbsfleet's re-arranged Blue Square Premier clash with Northwich was called off following a 9.45am inspection.

The Blue Square South match between Team Bath and Welling was postponed on Friday afternoon, while Bromley's home game against Bishop's Stortford was confirmed off on Saturday.

Tonbridge Angels's clash at Billericay succumbed to a waterlogged pitch at 1.45pm on Saturday.

In Ryman League Division 1 South, Cray Wanderers' trip to Walton & Hersham and Ashford's match at Chipstead were also postponed.

In Ryman League Division 1 North, both Thamesmead's home match with Cheshunt and Chatham's clash with Great Wakering Rovers at Maidstone Road are off.

Despite reports elsewhere suggesting otherwise, there is one game that survives in the Bulmers Cider Kent League with Faversham at home to VCD.
