Hollands & Blair striker Matt Gething scored on Wednesday night to send his new team into the next round of the FA Cup.

Summer signing Gething headed home the only goal of the game to see off opponents Colliers Wood in the extra preliminary round of the competition,

Gething partnered fellow new signing Danny Kedwell upfront for Simon Halsey’s Southern Counties East side and was in the right place at the right time to convert Louis Valencia’s corner kick.

Former Cuxton 91 striker Gething netted 15 goals for K Sports during the expunged 2019/20 campaign.

Canterbury City suffered a 3-2 defeat in their away match against Guildford City.

There was a limited-capacity sell-out at Guildford’s Spectrum Stadium and the hosts went two goals infront with efforts from Cyril Ocansey and Athan Smith-Joseph.

Adam Woollcott got Canterbury back in the game before the break and Dan Keyte levelled it up with 15 minutes left. But it was the Surrey side who got the winner, Mick Coppinger scoring in the 82nd minute.

FA Cup debutants Stansfeld beat Punjab United on penalties after a thrilling 90 minutes of football, a match watched by 269 spectators.

Goals from George Goodwin and Ben Francis put Punjab two goals ahead early on before a quickfire double in the second half from Freddie Cray levelled the tie.

Another Goodwin goal put Gravesend side Punjab ahead again but Stansfeld’s Billy Parkinson made it 3-3 with five minus remaining, taking the match to penalties.

New SCEFL side Balham were beaten on penalties by Hassocks.

The game ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, a last-minute penalty from Balham’s Tom Read taking the tie to a shootout, but the visitors then won 5-3 on spot-kicks.

Beckenham beat Southern Combined Football League side Mile Oak 4-0 thanks to goals from Steve Townsend, Ryan Hall, Junior Kaffo and Harvey Brand.
