Canterbury’s men ended their disappointing season with yet another loss on Saunday.
They went down 5-2 at Bowdon Hightown to record their 16th defeat in 18 games in the Slazenger English Premier Division this season.
Craig Boyne’s 19th-minute goal cancelled out an early opener for the home side but two penalty strokes allowed Bowdon to take a 3-1 lead and they made it four soon after.
Aaron Hudson pulled one back for the city club on the hour but the fifth arrived four minutes later to seal another gloomy away trip for Canterbury.
Holcombe finished their season on a high after securing a 6-1 win over Robinson's in the National South Division.
A Danny Laslett hat-trick guided Holcombe to a comfortable victory and left Robinson's facing a relegation play-off against Kingston Upon Hull.
Denzil Dolly (2) and Liam Foster were Holcombe's other scorers with Ryan Dudley scoring Robinson's consolation.
The result means Holcombe finish the season in third place.
Sevenoaks finished as runners-up after being held to a 4-4 draw against Firebrands.
Firebrands took the lead through goals from Matt Blakeman and Ben Trembath.
Sevenoaks pulled one back through Sam Ornbo but Firebrands restored their two-goal advantage through Blakeman.
Three quickfire goals from Ben Sykes and James Salmon (2) gave Sevenoaks the lead for the first time in the match but Firebrands rescued a point with a late goal from Andy Edwards.
Canterbury’s women ended their campaign on a high, securing a top-half finish in the Premier Division with a 7-1 win over already-relegated Old Loughtonians.
Cathy Gilliat-Smith and Helen Grant scored twice apiece and Jenny Wilson, Hayley Brown and Natasha Brennan also notched as the city club ensured a fifth-placed finish in the table.
In the National South Division, Maidstone finished fourth after beating champions Staines 5-2.
Staines started strongly and took a 2-0 lead through goals from Kelly Morgan and Laura Puddle.
But Maidstone responded with goals from Jessica Cremin (2), Suzanne Leaning (2) and Kirsty Hotson as the home side completed an impressive fightback.
