CANTERBURY’S men put up a brave fight against in-form Beeston but lost by the odd goal in nine on Sunday.

Chris Bassano-Harper opened the scoring from a ninth minute penalty coner and Matt Harper made it 2-0 two minutes later.
Beeston pulled one back but Jess Dowsing increased the lead on 39 minutes.
The home side reduced the arrears again but Harper restored the two-goal advantage after 48 minutes only for three goals in 14 minutes, including two penalty corners, to seal a 5-4 win for the third-placed Bees.
Sevenoaks top the National South Division but only recorded a narrow victory over strugglers Whitchurch on Sunday.
With title challengers Holcombe, University of Kent and Indian Gymkhana all dropping points, Oaks now hold a two point lead at the top.
Sam Ornbo gave Sevenoaks the lead after 23 minutes and they held this going into the break.
Tim Smith doubled the lead late on but Whitchurch pulled a goal back on 68 minutes.
A late equaliser denied Holcombe victory over Oxted on Sunday.
Holcs were looking to bounce back from their first defeat in the South Division the previous week, but a stubborn Oxted side twice came from behind to draw 2-2.
Dave Hemsley’s goal gave Holcs a first half lead but the visitors equalised after the break.
Eric Rose-Innes put Holcs back ahead, but Oxted once again replied, just four minutes from the end.
Bromley & Beckenham remain at the wrong end of the South Division after a 4-2 defeat to Robinson’s.
Two goals inside the opening seven minutes had given visitors Robinson’s a great start to the match.
BromBeck though came straight back in and by the break it was all-square through goals from Keiran Mulholland and Dan Holmes.
Robinson’s struck twice more after the break though to deny BromBeck any joy.
