Welling secretary Barrie Hobbins has laughed off internet rumours that the club are in arrears with their rent at Park View Road.

The club pay their ground rent and insurance by direct debit to Bexley Council but rumours were spreading across unofficial forums that the Wings were behind with their payments.

"There's no problem," stated Mr Hobbins. "We pay monthly and everything is fine with the Council.

"We've got an agreement in place with them for an additional four-figure sum that was left over from last year."

Mr Hobbins has urged the supporter in question to get in touch.

"If people can tell me where this has happened, then I can bring it up with the Council. I'm surprised that someone has elaborated on it at all as there isn't a problem."
