Redruth 19 Westcombe Park 16
WESTCOMBE PARK’S slide down the National League 2 table continued after they suffered a shock 19-16 defeat against basement side Redruth.
The home side took an early lead from a penalty before Combe hit back with a well taken James Whittingham penalty.
Redruth then scored from another penalty before a fracas resulted in a Redruth player and Combe’s Will Thorpe being sent to the sin bin after 28 minutes.
In the second half, Redruth increased their lead with a well taken converted try.
This lead was further increased from a drop goal before Whittingham kicked two penalties and converted a Gideon Roux try to level the score at 16-16 with five minutes remaining.
The Reds were then awarded a long range penalty and it took a cool head from their fly-half to step up and secure the points.
