GILLINGHAM welcome Luton to Priestfield tonight for the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Caretaker manager Iffy Onuora will make wholesale changes for the match, providing he is still in charge, following the disappointing defeat at Swindon.

“Some of the older ones, particularly those that have had knocks, will be rested,” said Onuora.

“What it becomes now is not just a game that we want to win, but one where places are up for grabs again, and that’s how the players should go into it.

“There is a big game against Millwall next week. I’m not disregarding the competition and it’s a game we want to win, get back on track and put the Swindon result behind us.

“They’ll be a few players who haven’t figured for a week or two who can come in and stake a claim to be playing on Saturday.”

That could mean a return to the starting eleven for players such as keeper Derek Stillie, defender Simon King, midfielder Mark Bentley and striker Gary Mulligan.

Chris Dickson, who is on loan from Charlton, will also be keen to start, having barely tasted action since moving to Priestfield.

Ian Cox is likely to be rested after a cut to the head at Swindon while Aaron Brown remains sidelined with a groin injury.

Gillingham got a bye in the first round while Luton beat Northampton 2-0.
