Braintree 2 Bromley 0
Former Bromley striker Gareth Williams scored both goals as his new club Braintree won 2-0 in Blue Square South on Saturday.
His first came nine minutes before the break when he slotted home from the edge of the box after a quick exchange of passes.
The Lillywhites suffered another setback in the 65th minute when David Obaze was dismissed for a deliberate handball after falling on the ball and preventing Williams from running clean through.
And the home side made their extra man count within three minutes when Williams finished off a neat move to double the advantage and kill the game off.
Danny Hockton had gone close for Bromley in the first half but he failed to connect properly with the goal gaping after a defensive mix-up.
Hockton was twice denied by keeper Craig Holloway in the second half and substitute Nic McDonnell just failed to convert the rebound after Holloway had parried Loui Fazakerly's initial effort.
