Basingstoke 1 Bromley 1
BROMLEY travelled back to Kent with a point after a 1-1 Blue Square South draw in windy conditions at Basingstoke on Saturday.
The home side took the lead in the 27th minute when Scott Fitzgerald latched onto a long punt upfield, out-muscled defender Jack Haverson and finished beyond new Lillywhites keeper Gareth Williams
But the equaliser came just four minutes later when Bromley's outfield player Gareth Williams curled home a free kick after Basingstoke keeper Chris Tardis was deemed to have carried the ball outside of his penalty area.
Williams then thought he had a legitimate claim for a penalty before the break after he appeared to be brought down as he shaped to shoot, but the referee thought otherwise and booked the forward for diving.
He and Haverson will both now be suspended in two weeks after picking up their fifth cautions of the season.
The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession after the break as they went in search of a winner but they failed to fashion any clear-cut chances and were restricted to efforts from distance.
