Bromley 1 Sutton United 0
A HARD-WORKING display saw Bromley beat the Blue Square South's basement side Sutton United 1-0 at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
The winner came three minutes before half-time when an excellent move involving player-manager Simon Osborn and Nic McDonnell ended with Gareth Williams lashing past Sutton keeper Phil Wilson.
It was goal worthy of winning the match, which was watched by a crowd of 648.
The Lillywhites might have won by a greater margin, but Sam Wood saw a first half effort cleared off the line, while Williams, McDonnell and Danny Hockton were all denied by fine saves by Wilson.
Harry Ottoway came closest for the visitors on the hour but his fierce drive fizzed just over the bar. It summed up Sutton's afternoon as they failed to muster a single shot on target.
Bromley survived a strong penalty claim with 16 minutes to play when Craig Dundas was brought down by keeper Andy Walker after poor defending from the home side.
