Chester FC 1 Welling United 1 - Vanarama Conference Premier match report

Tyrone Marsh struck a dramatic late equaliser to ensure Welling United a point from their long trip to Chester in Vanarama Conference Premier on Saturday.

Marsh pounced from a corner in the third of four minutes of injury-time at the Swansway Chester Stadium to send Wings back with a deserved point.

Craig Mahon put the home team ahead just 10 minutes in when his shot somehow beat Jon Henly from the edge of the box after good work from Sean McConville.

Wings came close to a leveller just two minutes later when a corner found its way to Chris Bush who missed his kick when well-placed and just before the half-hour Marsh could not take advantage with a header after a deep cross evaded keeper Jon Worsnop.

Worsnop denied a shot from Jake Gallagher after a probing run just before the break while at the other end former Scotland international Chris Iwelumo headed wide when well placed after the turnaround.

Marsh’s last-gasp leveller kept 17th-placed Wings two points behind their hosts ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Kidderminster.
