Wings boss puts deadline on defender decision

Leon Solomon has verbally agreed to stay
Leon Solomon has verbally agreed to stay

THE future of Welling defender Leon Solomon will be decided by the weekend, according to player-manager Neil Smith.

Solomon has verbally agreed to stay at Park View Road but Smith disclosed that a Football League club have expressed an interest in the defender.

Smith said: "The worst-case scenario is that it will go to a tribunal but I'm led to believe that the interested club don't want to go down that route.

"I want Leon to stay but I've got to speak to him about it and see where we go. I'm going to put a deadline on his decision because I need to know where I am going with my squad."

Meanwhile, Welling secretary Barrie Hobbins has confirmed that the club's new floodlights have been installed.

Mr Hobbins reiterated that the cost will not affect Smith's budget for the new season.
