Bromley 1 Welling 2 (after extra-time)

WELLING had Lloyd Blackman to thank for an extra-time winner as they beat rivals Bromley in the third round of the Setanta Shield.

The Wings came from behind after Danny Hockton's first-half penalty had given Bromley the lead against the run of play.

Welling equalised through Omari Coleman with 12 minutes left and had keeper Jamie Turner to thank for two magnificent one-handed saves.

Welling made all the early running with the impressive Orlando Smith hitting the crossbar from 35 yards after nine minutes.

But the deadlock was broken on the stroke of half-time when Stuart Nethercott barged over Gareth Williams and Hockton scored low to Turner's right from the penalty spot.

Both sides went close at the start of the second half but it was not until the 78th-minute that Welling drew level. Chris Moore headed Richard Carpenter's free-kick against the bar and Coleman finally turned in the loose ball from close range.

Bromley wasted three glorious chances to win the tie as Robbie Ryan headed Hockton's effort off the line, Sam Wood shot wide and then Hockton saw his blockbuster brilliantly saved by Turner in stoppage time.

Indecision in the Bromley defence at the start of extra-time proved costly as Blackman scored into an empty net against his former club after 94 minutes although the visitors were again indebted to a fine Turner save to deny substitute Reggie Savage minutes later.
