Welling 2 Bishop's Stortford 1
Welling rounded off their Blue Square South home fixtures with a narrow victory on Tuesday night.
First-half goals from Sonny Cobbs and Orlando Smith proved decisive for the Wings, who completed the double over Bishop's Stortford and ended the visitors' play-off aspirations in the process.
Chances were few and far between until Cobbs scored a goal of the season contender after 19 minutes, picking up a loose ball before finding the top corner from 30 yards with a brilliant left-foot shot.
It was a deserved goal by Cobbs, whose loan spell ends after this weekend, and his second in as many matches against Stortford this term.
The visitors drew level six minutes later when Ahmed Deen's free-kick was turned in at close range by the lively Danny Wallis.
Wallis then beat the offside trap and keeper Jamie Turner but Robbie Ryan was on hand to clear his goalbound effort.
What turned out to be the winning goal arrived just after the half-hour when Sam Gargan challenged keeper Joe Welch and Smith was on hand to slot home the loose ball.
For a side chasing a play-off spot, Stortford surprisingly refused to throw caution to the wind in the second half although the Wings were grateful to a goalline clearance by Michael Kamara to deny Loui Fazakerley.
Welling's defence, well marshalled again by player-of-the-year Chris Moore, stood firm and the Wings recorded only their sixth league win in front of their own fans this season.
