Welling United 1 Lewes 0
PAUL Booth's 22nd goal of the season meant Welling finished the campaign on a high note at home to Lewes on Saturday.
The predatory striker struck nine minutes before half-time following up after Danny Slatter's 20-yard shot was only parried by Lewes keeper Scott Ward.
It was a thoroughly deserved three points for Welling who dominated for long periods and had the better chances.
Striker Tommy Tyne should have doubled their tally on the stroke of half-time but he shot straight at Ward.
It was a similar story after the break as Tyne, substitute Onome Sodje and Booth all failed to apply the finishing touch.
The best the visitors had to offer was a 20-yard free kick from substitute Junior Kadi, but stand-in Gillingham goalkeeper Danny Knowles was not seriously troubled.
In other results, an 82nd minute winner gave Margate all three points at home to Bishop's Stortford.
