Wings game called off

WELLING will have to wait a further week until they play under caretaker managers Richard Carpenter and Chris Moore.

The Wings were due to host Grays in the Setanta Shield fourth round on Tuesday night but the game had been postponed after Grays drew their FA Trophy game at York on Saturday.

Welling, who went down 4-0 at Hampton in their previous match, are next in action on Saturday, January 19 when they travel to Bishop's Stortford in Blue Square South.

One player has left the club since Smith's departure with John Wilfort joining Tonbridge while former assistant manager Stuart Nethercott is reported to have rejoined Wivenhoe.

Meanwhile, the Wings have re-arranged their matches against Newport County. Welling will host Newport on February 5 before visiting Wales on March 19.
