St Albans 1 Welling 2
WELLING extended their winning sequence to three games with a comfortable victory at struggling St Albans on Saturday.
The Wings, who dominated the first half, took the lead after 17 minutes when Chris Moore's excellent cross was turned in at the near post by Ross Montague.
Welling should have doubled their lead before half-time but Marlon Patterson's shot wide and Fabian Quintyn was denied by keeper Seb Brown.
The visitors went 2-0 up after 72 minutes when Quintyn's low cross was missed by Leon Solomon but Paul Bruce turned the ball into his own net.
Within two minutes the home side were back in the game when Damian Batt fired home from the edge of the box with his side's first shot on target.
But the strugglers failed to force Welling keeper Clark Masters into a save and it was the Wings who went closest to scoring again as substitute Omari Coleman and Quintyn were both denied by keeper Brown.
