Welling United 1 Sutton United 0
WELLING extended their unbeaten run to three games with a narrow success at home to Sutton United on Saturday.
The game was decided 43 seconds into the second half when Danny Kedwell headed home Ellis Green's right-wing cross.
However, the Wings were fortunate to still be on level terms at the start of the second half as Sutton dominated and deserved more than going in all square.
Charlie Ide headed against the bar after six minutes and the visitors were denied by the woodwork again when Peter Fear saw his free-kick also come back off the crossbar.
Ide went close again before half-time while the best the Wings could manage was a stray Matt Bodkin finish.
Once ahead Welling were a different outfit and went onto dominate the second period.
Makeshift striker Steve Perkins and Jamie Day both went close before Fear was lucky to stay on the pitch after a reckless lunge on Green.
Bodkin headed Day's cross over and while Sutton pushed forward late on they failed to force Wings keeper Jamie Turner into serious action.
