Wings keeper inspires happy away day

SUPERB: Jamie Turner
SUPERB: Jamie Turner

Hayes 0 Welling United 1

AN INSPIRED performance by keeper Jamie Turner helped Welling to maximum points against lowly Hayes at Church Road on Saturday.

Turner pulled off three magnificent second half saves to preserve a clean sheet.

The Wings had led since the 33rd minute when in-form Danny Kedwell took his tally to 11 after his low 25-yard shot deceived home keeper Kevin Davies.

It should have been 2-0 five minutes before half-time but John GUest headed Jamie Day's corner over the crossbar from six yards.

Turner came to the fore at the start of the second half denying Jon Dyer twice in a minute, the second a fantastic point-blank save.

Then on the hour Turner kept out Liam Feeney's left-footed drive.

Welling should have extended their lead at the other end as Che Stadhart twice went close along with Matt Bodkin.
