Wings number two not worried about Eastleigh return

Eastleigh v Welling

WELLING’S Phil Handford has admitted that he will be unfazed by the reception he receives at former club Eastleigh on Saturday.

Handford, having turned down the manager's job at Park View Road last year, moved to the Southampton-based club in the summer but left following their 3-1 defeat at Welling in September.

The Wings' assistant manager said: "I've not really thought about what type of reception I’ll get, and it's not really an issue for me.

"I'm not worried if I get a frosty reception. The football people there know what I did but there wasn't enough of those people at the club."

Handford's involvement at Eastleigh means the Wings travel with plenty of knowledge about their opponents.

"I know their strengths and weaknesses so hopefully we can take a gameplan down there and do well," added Handford.

"Poor defending cost us against Bath. I don't want players coming in apologising for mistakes – don't make them in the first place."
