Welling v Eastleigh
New Welling striker James Baker comes up against his former club on Saturday when they host Eastleigh in a re-arranged Blue Square South game.
Baker scored for Eastleigh in their 4-2 win over Welling earlier this season but is hoping for a different outcome this time around as he lines up for the Wings.
“It’s worked out nicely and will be an interesting game,” said Baker.
“It would be nice to beat them although I never left with any bad feeling, not on my part, but things changed and I wish them luck but hopefully we’ll win on Saturday.”
A much-publicised shortfall in revenue meant Baker was available to leave the Hampshire outfit having only joined in the close season from Braintree, and Welling boss Andy Ford made his move to bring the forward to the club.
Baker added: "The financial problems were the main reason I left, I enjoyed it down there.
"But travelling where I come from (near Stansted airport) was a long way. It was a long drive and to take time out of work as well it all added up.
“It was a problem for me and I was glad to get the call from Welling and straight away I wanted to come here.
“I had a really good time but circumstances changed and I couldn’t do much about it."
Welling, who boast the best defensive record in Blue Square South, are set to name an unchanged line-up with Orlando Smith and Dorian Smith still sidelined.
