Welling 0 Havant & Waterlooville 1

WELLING’S miserable home form continued as Havant & Waterlooville claimed all three points thanks to a late winner at Park View Road on Saturday.

Welling substitute Tim Hambley gifted Havant possession and Geoff Pitcher gratefully slotted home.

There was little to separate the two teams in a dour first half with former Wimbledon striker Dean Holdsworth coming closest for the visitors.

After the break, Dave Town should have put Havant ahead but shot straight at Charlie Mitten. The Wings’ goalkeeper also did well to turn Robbie Pethick’s right foot volley onto the post.

The best Welling could muster was two efforts from corners but Hambley and James Smith both headed wide when well placed.
