Welling produced a brilliant opening half-hour to set them on the road to victory at 10-man Woking in The Skrill Premier on Saturday.
The hosts had former Welling captain Jack Parkinson sent-off for a second booking straight after half-time but the Wings had already converted their dominance into goals by that stage.
Welling were ahead on 15 minutes when Harry Beautyman's corner was punched into his own net by Woking keeper Aaron Howe.
It got worse for the home side four minutes later as Joe Healy's deep cross was perfectly headed back across goal and into the far corner by Doug Bergqvist.
Welling continued to slice through the home defence with ease and it was no surprise when Beautyman added a third. Ross Lafayette judged the bounce better than Brett Johnson and then had the presence of mind to pick out the onrushing Beautyman, who marked his full debut with a crisp strike beyond Howe.
At the other end, keeper Lee Butcher was at full stretch to deny Anthony McNamee, although Woking did pull one back six minutes before the break when Gavin Williams set up Johnson for a close-range finish.
The home side's hopes of staging a second-half comeback were dented seconds after the restart when Parkinson, already booked for a sliding lunge in the first half, collected a second caution after leading with his arm against Lafayette.
Woking pushed men forward as the half went on but were caught on the counter attack midway through the half. Loick Pires benefited from a deflected right-wing cross and had time and space to head beyond Howe for his first goal since leaving Woking to return to Welling in the close season.
Within a minute, substitute Joe McNerney, who gave Woking a physical presence up front that they had been lacking, headed in a right-wing corner to make it 4-2. But thereafter Butcher again showed safe hands to keep out the long range efforts that Woking produced and Pires was in the right place at the death to clear the danger close to his own goal.
Lafayette twice wasted openings to add a fifth goal but Welling were more than deserving of the points as they secured their second successive Skrill Premier win. They host Salisbury, the team they pipped to the Conference South title last term, at Park View Road on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).
