Welling 2 - 0 Carshalton Athletic
WELLING'S scrappy Nationwide Conference South victory over Carshalton came at a cost on Tuesday night.
With the weekend's crunch FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Dorchester looming, Welling manager Adrian Pennock faces being without striker James Pinnock and keyman Steve Perkins.
The pair hobbled off in the first half against a combative Carshalton team who were eventually reduced to 10 men with 17 minutes left.
Perkins had given the Wings a 12th minute lead, heading in from close range after Chris Moore's near post header came back off the crossbar.
Welling continued to press with Pinnock, Moore and Danny Kedwell all going close before Pinnock was forced out of action after 27 minutes. Perkins joined him on the sidelines four minutes before the break as Welling's injury list increased.
The second half was a scrappy affair with the impressive Leon Solomon coming to Welling's rescue on more than one occasion.
After bringing down Adrian Clarke, visiting full-back Colin Hartburn was sent off for a professional foul in the 73rd minute.
Carshalton keeper Stuart Searle then fouled Kedwell in the penalty area with seven minutes left and the striker picked himself up to confidently score his sixth goal of the season from the spot.
