Gills boss Martin Allen insists he feels no pressure.
Four games into the new campaign and Gillingham are closing in on a win.
But Allen isn’t getting worked up about the time it’s taken.
He said: “I have been enjoying working with the players and as I said 100,000 times last year, I never look at the league table, never watch the TV or read the newspapers, or get involved in all that.
“I just focus on looking after our players, our staff, helping our players and guiding them forward. I have a fantastic group of players and we have great backing from our supporters.
“I used to feel that pressure but I don’t feel that any more. I have learned over the years that if it is going to affect me it will affect the players. I am the one who has to stand up, deal with it, help them and guide them.”
In the last two games the Gills more than matched their opponents. Both Brentford and Swindon, who they have claimed draws against, met in the play-offs last season.
“I thought our players against Brentford were absolutely outstanding,” said Allen.
“It was probably the best performance of a team since I have been at Gillingham, probably the best of any team I have put out."
