CANTERBURY are safely in mid-table and lie 10 points clear of the Slazenger English Premier Division relegation play-off spot with three games remaining after their 2-0 loss at Slough.

A second half Purdy Miller goal and a penalty flick from Jane Smith were enough to give the home side victory and secure the league title and bring to an end the city club’s three-game unbeaten run since the mid-season break.

Oaks took the lead through Jet Van Zalen on 11 minutes.

The home side pulled level through Linda Webb before Clare Mitchell got the winner after 57 minutes.
