Mel Clewlow converted two penalty corners as Canterbury won for the first time this season in the EHL Women’s Premier Division.

After four successive draws, Canterbury beat Poynton 3-2 at Polo Farm on Sunday.

Clewlow opened the scoring on 21 minutes from a penalty corner but Poynton levelled before the break.

Another Clewlow effort put Canterbury 2-1 ahead and Cathy Gilliat-Smith struck the third just after the hour mark.

A 68th-minute goal from Poynton made for a tense finale.

Maidstone clinched their first win of the season in the EHL Women’s Conference East on Saturday.

A 3-1 success over Horsham ended a run of four games without a victory.

Goals from Kathryn Waldrom and Lizzie Daniels put Maidstone 2-0 ahead after 10 minutes.

Horsham pulled a goal back before the break, but Suzanne Leaning made it 3-1 and sealed the win in the 54th minute.

Sevenoaks’ impressive recent form continued with a 3-2 victory at home to Old Loughtonians on Saturday.

It was the side’s third straight win but they left it late.

Anna Frizoni gave Sevenoaks a 13th-minute lead but they were 2-1 down early in the second half.

Sevenoaks staged a fightback and Fiona Harland’s 57th-minute goal levelled the score before Frizoni’s penalty corner, two minutes from time, earned her side maximum points.
