JORDAN GIBB: achieved his best ever win

ROCHESTER & Cobham Park youngster Jordan Gibb has expressed his relief after winning the South of England Under-17s Championship at Yeovil.

The 16-year-old, who has been touted as one of the best young golfers in Kent for a couple of years, proved his mettle by first carding scores of 69 and 71 before taking the title with rounds of 72 and 73 the day after.

Gibb, who finished two shots clear of Oliver Turnill and Adam Birdseye, admitted: “It was a relief to win the event because I've been playing with a handicap of two since the age of 14 but just haven't been able to make that extra step up.

“However, in recent months I have been putting a lot of hard work into my golf and I'm glad it has come good. This is the biggest competition I've ever won.”
