ENGLAND Under-19 wicketkeeper Paul Dixey is one of seven Kent players who will fly to India in the New Year for an intensive, 10-day coaching course in Mumbai.

The 19-year-old made his first-class debut for the county against Bangladesh A in 2005 and followed that with a second first-class appearance against Cambridge University this season.

As he aims to join Kent’s illustrious list of international wicketkeeper-batsmen, Dixey is hoping that working on the sub-continent will ultimately help his all-round game.

He said: "I’m looking to working hard on my batting technique against spin on the spin-friendly pitches over there.

"It’s also ideal for me because I can spend plenty of time stood-up, working on my keeping and glove-work while getting some valuable experience of the different pitches and climate."

The party, which also includes Kent professionals Min Patel, Darren Stevens and James Tredwell, fies out on January 7 and will be based at the World Cricket Academy in the former city of Bombay.

Making up the Kent seven will be 14-year-old Tom Elliott, a first year Kent Academy inductee and left-arm spinner for Tonbridge School, Bromley Common batsman James Goodman, 15, and Dan Stickles, a 15-year-old off-spinner from Tenterden.
