Kent County Council is investing £1.1m in new and improved play areas at its country parks across the county.

The money has come from a Government Public Health Covid-19 recovery programme.

It will be used to improve existing play areas as well as install new play equipment.

At Shorne Woods Country Park, new inclusive play equipment will include a wheelchair swing.

The country parks at Brockhill, Grove Ferry, Lullingstone, Manor Park, Pegwell Bay, Teston Bridge and Trosley will also benefit, with all work due to be completed by the end of May.

KCC's head of country parks, Kate Phillips, said: "Our team is so excited to see this investment into our play areas and look forward to providing new and exciting play opportunities for a wide range of ages and abilities.

"The work will mean that existing play areas will have to be closed while contractors remove old equipment and install new, so we ask visitors to please bear with us while we make these improvements."
