Work could begin soon on a new industrial estate that developers say could bring 300 new jobs.
The Gallagher Group won planning permission for the 8.2 hectare site off Lucks Lane in Paddock Wood back in October last year, but a Section 106 legal agreement had to completed between the firm and Tunbridge Wells council before work could begin.
That agreement has now been signed.
It commits Gallaghers to making mitigation payments of £249,892 towards new walking and cycling routes, and £96,256 towards the provision of better public transport.
The industrial park, which will lie next to the existing Transfesa Estate, lies totally within a floodplain, which had raised some local objections before permission was granted.
As part of the scheme, Lucks Lane will be widened between the entrance to the estate and the junction with the B2160 Maidstone Road, to a width of 7.3m and the firm will also pay £16,000 towards a new roundabout on the A228 Whetsted Road.
The site will provide seven units of various sizes, serviced by 331 paring spaces.
The land is part of Swatland Farm and is currently grazed.
