No feathers were ruffled by the arrival of this little unexpected visitor.
The grey and yellow cockatiel made a grand, though somewhat clumsy, entrance at St Simon Stock School in Oakwood Park, Maidstone – by flying into a pupil’s hair.
Children who were delighted when the bird paid a surprise visit to the school last Monday, but are hoping it will be reunited with its owners.
Pupils nicknamed her Stocky Bird and she was causing a stir in the sports hall, when deputy headteacher Ruth Simpson and she made a beeline for her shoulder, much to their amusement, and even began nibbling her ear.
Stocky Bird was taken to the Leybourne RSPCA centre.
A school spokesman said: "His owner , who must be somewhere in ME16, may have inadvertently left her cage open on a warm and sunny day. We hope they will see this picture, go to Leybourne and be reunited."
Staff at the centre have renamed her Thumberlina, and she is said to be well, but still awaiting a reunion with her owner. If she is yours, call 0300 123 0751.
