A lot of people owe something to John Kingdon.
If you compiled a list of those indebted to him and rolled it out, it would probably stretch all the way from Mangravet, Maidstone – where he’s something of a hero to children – to Hastings, where he first began teaching gymnastics as a 16-year-old to groups of “street kids”.
And yet if you scanned it closely, one name on that list might cause you to raise your eyebrows: Engelbert Humperdinck.
