A man says he's lucky to have escaped a crash with minor injuries, after his car collided with a horse.
Dan Hill, 36, was travelling along the A26 - Tonbridge Road - in the early hours of this morning when the accident happened.
Police were called shortly after 3am but sadly the horse died at the scene.
Mr Hill, from Aylesham, said: "I was doing my usual commute to Warburtons in Paddock Wood.
"I was driving down the A26. I saw a car with his hazards on, slowed to see if all was ok and the next thing I saw was a horse in the road.
"I swerved to miss that one and hit another. The horse went through my windscreen, luckily I put my hand up and covered my face then it rolled over the car and hit the road where it sadly passed away.
"I'm very lucky to only have scratches and a sore shoulder. Today wasn't my time I guess."
The incident happened near Teston Lane and the road was closed for more than seven hours.
That stretch of the A26 connects Maidstone with Mereworth and Wateringbury.
