A Kent town is the topic of a hoax article that has been widely shared about film star and comedian Adam Sandler.
The article, which has been posted on spoof site maywoodpost.com, says Adam Sandler has thanked Maidstone residents for helping with an issue with his car while he was in the area recently.
The piece quotes Sandler, saying: "We were just leaving the city limits of Maidstone, England, when I noticed that we had a flat tyre, so I pulled over to the side of the road, and we were about to call the car company but then just a minute or two later there were two, maybe three, cars that pulled over behind us and offered to put a spare on.
"So I let them. I mean, I was just so impressed that people could be that friendly and pull over so quickly and offer to help a complete stranger.
"You have to understand that this is something that would've never happened in LA."
The Wedding Singer star reportedly added later: "And they had no idea who I was before they pulled over. So yeah, that's my story about Maidstone. It's nice to know that there are still places like this in the world."
In the 'about' section of the Maywood Post's website, it states that "though some articles contain actual events, none of the articles should be considered true, and are simply meant for entertainment purposes".
This hasn't stopped some locals sharing the article hundreds of times, with some going so far as to say they remember seeing the 50-year-old comedian at the side of the road.
