Addington Village toast their Division 4 title win after beating Gravesend RFC
Addington Village will hope to celebrate their second successive promotion by winning their final match in Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 4 at relegation-threatened Bromley Town.
They recorded a 43-run success over Gravesend RFC, although they were in a spot of bother at 77-5 batting first.
But then Matt Bruton (37) and Jack Sopp (36 not out) put on 80 for the sixth wicket to help Addington set a target of 184-7. Dan Walton (5-36) and Joe Whitecross (4-41) then combined to remove Gravesend for 141.
The Mote travel to Hythe on Saturday for a clash which will decide who goes up with champions Lordswood from Division 1.
Glen Aukett’s side are in the driving seat with a 10-point advantage over third-placed Hythe following their nine-wicket success against Whitstable last Saturday.
Batting first, Whitstable were struggling to reach three figures at one stage in the face of some good bowling from Kym Daley (4-37) and Kenny George (4-36) but then some lower-order defiance from Andy Bennett (34) and Chris Hardy (31) carried them to 135 all out.
However, The Mote openers then proceeded to virtually knock off the required runs between them, with Tom Harvey (76 not out) and Matt White (50) putting on 132 for the first wicket.
