A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after crashing near junction 8 of the M20.

The man came off his bike at about 2.20pm on the A20 Ashford Road near the roundabout which leads on to the motorway.

An air ambulance landed by the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes hotel.

The rider was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by road.

The extent of his injuries are not yet known and South East Coast Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.

Kent Police were at the scene and the road was partially closed to allow for recovery of the vehicle but traffic is now moving freely.
