Air ambulance flies victim to major trauma centre after crash in Lenham Road, Headcorn

A crash victim had to be flown to a major trauma centre.

The casualty was one of two in a road accident at Headcorn on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex told KentOnline: “A helicopter was dispatched on September 14.

“Our crew arrived on scene at 14:59 where they worked with SECAmb and Kent Police to help treat two patients involved in a road traffic collision.

“One patient was taken to a major trauma centre by air with our crew delivering their care en route. The other patient was transported to hospital by road.”

Lenham Road was shut off by emergency crews following the two-vehicle accident between Baker Lane and Forge Lane at 2.20pm.

Onlookers said the police and paramedics were at the scene, while an air ambulance helicopter was spotted circling above.

A police spokesperson from initial reports said a woman had sustained injuries.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service told KentOnline: “We were called at 2.28pm to Lenham Road, Headcorn, to reports of a crash.

“Two fire engines attended and crews assisted SECAmb and Kent Police.”

The fire crews were at the scene for just under 40 minutes.

The road fully reopened at about 6pm.
