An air ambulance has landed on a recreation ground, just yards from a children's play area.

Visitors at Mote Park, Maidstone, witnessed the helicopter land on a grassy area this afternoon.

Witnesses also saw an ambulance approaching Maidstone Leisure Centre by road.

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed response cars and an ambulance attended to treat a woman in King Street but were unable to provide further details.

A doctor was flown in by helicopter just before 1pm to provide specialist treatment.
