Emergency services were scrambled to Maidstone after reports that a 'body' had been spotted by the railway tracks.
The air ambulance landed in Rowland Close, behind Maidstone West station, at around 1.50pm, joining paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.
They were responding to concerns that someone had been struck by a train.
However, it appears that the call was made after a bag and coat were spotted nearby, and mistaken for a body.
The air ambulance was stood down shortly after landing.
British Transport Police has been approached for comment.
